Hidden Pacific Islands Worth Visiting

Beyond the famous names, the Pacific has islands with beautiful lagoons and almost no crowds. These need more planning, but the reward is a place that feels like your own.

Where to look

  • Tuamotu atolls (French Polynesia): Rangiroa and Fakarava are known for diving and quiet lagoons.
  • Marquesas Islands (French Polynesia): rugged peaks, valleys and strong culture, far from the usual circuits.
  • Huahine and Taha’a (French Polynesia): green, authentic and much less visited than Bora Bora.
  • Tonga and Samoa: relaxed island life with strong traditions.
  • Vanuatu: volcanoes, villages and good diving.

What to expect

Fewer flights, simpler lodging and limited shops and mobile coverage. Plan extra days for weather delays and book small flights early.

Detailed guides to these places will be added soon.
